Vintage Berry Bowl & Under Plate

21/02/2025 By Emma Jervis

* SOLD * Wash & serve your tasty fruit delights with this very pretty vintage ceramic berry bowl & matching under plate.

The set has a basic white glaze with a light blue haze & a delightful pink rose floral design, finished off with gilt edging.

The bowl has 3 pretty feet which help elevate it a little whilst it sits on top of the under plate.

In good vintage condition but it does have a few areas of wear & tear which includes rubbing to the gilt edging in places, crazing to the ceramic surface, a slight chip to the under side of the rim of the bowl, & a few flea bite nibbles to the surface. The under plate has a small circular stain that looks like its from a piece of fruit that has sat on the plate for a while.

This being said the set is delightfully charming and fully ready to be used within your home.

A lovely gift idea.

Vintage Egg Cruet Set

20/02/2025 By Emma Jervis

Serve up your tasty boiled eggs in this delightful cruet set.

The set has 6 individual egg cups that sit in their own little storage holes on a ceramic base. The base has a carry handle for ease of moving and serving.

Beautifully painted with floral themes, leaves and branches , the cups and the base really catch the eye . The handle and the egg cups also have gold detailing to them.

The underside of the base has the Maker’s stamp marked on it. Through research, although not an exact age can be given to this piece, it is believed to be most likely from the 1930’s.
Considering its age the set is in good vintage condition, but does have the expected age related areas of wear & tear –
There is some rubbing to the gold detailing on the handle and the rims of the cups & some surface spots & faint marks to some areas of the ceramic

This being said the set is fully functional, clean & bright.

A beautiful piece of vintage breakfast tableware for you, a gift or a stunning addition to vintage serving ware in a Hotel or B&B.

Antique The Wind in the Willows

20/02/2025 By Emma Jervis

Lose yourself in the adventures & moral tales of Mole, Ratty, Badger & Mr Toad in the classic story of Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows.

This is the 21st edition & was published by Methuen & Co Ltd London in 1926 , making it almost 100 years old. As with the earlier editions of this novel, the book is not illustrated.

The book’s hardcover is blue cloth bound with gilt lettering for the title, author & publisher. The pages are all attached to the spine and clearly legible – the book comes with its original dust cover.

Beacuse of the age of the book there are the expected signs of wear & tear – the pages have edge wear, mottling to the inside cover boards, slight turning on the edges to the cover boards, mottling, rips and discolouration to the dust cover – some of the pages are slightly angled towards the spine but they all turn and read as normal – there is some writing in pencil to the front blank page.

Despite the list the book is in good , almost antique condition and is still a treat to have sitting on your book case.

A gift, an addition to your book collection , a display or prop piece.

Vintage Brass Long Handled Colander

13/02/2025 By Emma Jervis

A delightfully rustic & charming long handled vintage colander or strainer.

The bowl part of the colander is made of brass with the long cast iron handle attached to the bowl by 4 brass rivets.

The colander oozes warmth & it would look wonderful as a kitchen display piece, a business prop , a fabulous gift, or be used as intended.
It is in good vintage condition with the usual signs of patina in & around the bowl, the rivets & handle. The brass bowl also has some scratches within it.
However, some of the brass is bright, clear & shiny suggesting that the whole piece would polish up a great if desired.

It has a good weight to it – a real delight.

Measurements-

Length of whole item – 16inches
Diameter of bowl – 8 inches

Antique Lewis Carroll

21/01/2025 By Emma Jervis

“Through the Looking-Glass ( and what Alice found there )

Lose yourself in another fantastical adventure taken by Alice, entering the magical world by means of a looking glass.
This glorious story written by Lewis Carroll introduces us to Humpty Dumpty, The jabberwocky poem and the comical duo Tweedledum & Tweedledee.

The book was printed by Macmillan & Co Ltd as a pocket sized edition & illustrated by John Tenniel.

This particular edition was published in 1911, which means the book is 114 years old.
I wonder how many children & adults have been entertained, thrilled and mesmerised over the decades from this beautiful story & enchanting illustrations?

The book is bound in a red cloth cover and has gilt gold writing for the title, year and front design.

Given the book’s age it is not entirely surprising that there are some areas of wear & tear from its usage over the years. ( please ask for further photos if required )
There are a couple of stains to the front cover & fraying to the cloth around the spine. The gold writing is legible but has faded over the years.
All the pages are bound to the spine, turn as required with no rips, tears or graffiti – however, in some places the pages are a little looser. The writing is bright, clear & legible but the pages do have discolouration to them around the edges from holding & turning.

This being said the book is fully fit for purpose & can be enjoyed again and again as it has been many times before.

A wonderful gift, bedtime reading treat, an addition to a Lewis Carroll collection or the first for your collection.

Art Deco Crumb & Pan Set

17/01/2025 By Emma Jervis

* SOLD * A delightfully quirky Art Deco Crumb Catcher set sure to look the part on your dining table, dresser or sideboard.

The set consists of a circular brush & a pan for scooping all the crumbs into. These two pieces hang neatly from a stand designed as a dancing balllerina. There is some lovely detailing to the ballerina – you can clearly pick out the layers to her dress.

The underside of the base is quite basic and has a piece of cardboard in it. I am not sure whether this is an original part or a replacement for perhaps a felt base?- either way it is intact and the set stands firmly on a surface. The rim of the chrome base has some discolouration to it which I have tried to highlight in the photo ( please ask for further photos if required )

Both the brush and the pan handles have a slight wobble to them , but the set is firmly operational & fit for purpose. There are a few nibbles to the chrome surface of the pan but these may buff out. The bristles of the brush are in good order and clean. All in all, the set is in good vintage condition.

A delightful piece for your home, use as intended, a display piece, a business prop or a fabulous gift for a very lucky someone.

Antique Silverplate Egg Cup & Stand Set

21/11/2024 By Emma Jervis

* SOLD * A truly stunning antique egg cup and stand set ready to take pride of place on your dresser, sideboard, kitchen counter or window sill.

The set is silverplate and is marked WEPCo , referring to the German Wurttemberg Electroplate Company that was founded in 1853.

Six eggcups sit on top of the base which has 4 balled feet. There is a round central carry handle & either side of the handle there is hanging space for the 6 teaspoons.

The design is simple but the set is full of impact and it really is delightful.
The egg cups have a really good solid weight to them.
One of the teaspoons is slightly larger than the other 5. This may have been an error in the initial manufacturing, or simply a replacement spoon for a lost one over the years. (The difference is not particularly noticeable)

A few of the bases of the egg cups are slightly dented but they still fit and sit neatly on to their individual areas on the base.

Given the age of this piece it is in very good condition & fully fit for purpose.

There is some tarnishing to the silver plate but as a whole the item is clean, shiny and charming.

Delightful.
