What an absolutely gorgeous piece of vintage vanity ware.
This stunning bottle would have been used to shake scented powder onto wigs as part of a grooming routine with the intention of keep them clean, smelling nicely and , depending on the type of wig, white and bright.
The History of the Wig goes way back, as does the type & style of wigs worn, plus the reason for wearing one.
This powder shaker still carries a wonderful perfumed scent. It really is a rare find and a beautiful item.
Believed to be of silver plate with a copper shaker top, finial and waist, this lovely bottle is in very good vintage condition. There is tarnishing & discolouration to the surface but this just oozes warmth & style. Unfortunately there is a little dent to the copper top, but this is minimal & does not detract from its overwhelming beauty.
