A complete pocket guide with descriptive text” is a fabulous reference book for all nature lovers & inquisitive minds.
The book is packed with beautiful coloured drawings, black & white illustrations, supporting text & diagrams.
Published by Warne & Co, the book doesn’t have a printed date , but the Author’s, (Richard South F.E.S ) dates are 1846 – 1932, so it would be assumed the book was printed before 1932.
The cover of the book has a pretty gilt butterfly motif & gilt writing of the title. Originally the cover would have been a lovely bright blue but from much use and over time this has faded around the sides, the spine & the back cover.
The book certainly has a vintage look to it. The pages inside are all intact and have no graffiti but they are well thumbed. There are few areas where the binding has been stretched but the pages are not loose. Some pages have mottled marks and the top of the spine has some fraying to it.
This beautiful book has certainly been used well and given someone much pleasure over the years, but it is truly delightful and would be a fabulous addition to any vintage book or nature book collection you may have.
It would be a thoughtful gift or a fabulous display piece in your stylish home.
