*SOLD* A truly gorgeous Vintage Encyclopaedia published by Sampson Low. Marston & Co Ltd of London.
The volume is entitled “ The Pictorial Encyclopaedia” & has 237 packed pages of facts, figures, references & information.
The desire of the editors & publishers was to try and explain “elementary human knowledge purely by means of pictures”, hence this book is jam packed with beautiful & colourful illustrations & drawings.
The illustrations are both in colour & black & white, with some text in places to explain and teach where a simple drawing isn’t quite enough.
This is a truly fabulous reference book with bright, clean pages and it provides a fascinating look into what the world & its environments looked like & indeed how the environment at the time was viewed when it was was published in 1952.
This book is a real delight & suitable for readers of all ages. It is of a blue cloth hardback without a dust jacket. Given its fabulous vintage age it is in very good condition with no rips or tears to the pages & good binding throughout . There is the tiniest bit of a frayed edge to the bottom of the spine.
An incredible reference book which would be a fabulous addition to a vintage book collection or a lovely gift to someone who takes pleasure in learning.
