They don’t sell bedding like this these days.
A marvellous example of how things were done in the past, that extra special touch, that sense of style.
The two cotton pillowcases & the bolster case are beautifully presented in the original box. They are perfectly folded & completed with green ribbon ties. The pillowcases can be lifted out of the base of the box, but the bolster case is still held firmly in place with the ribbon. Wonderfully, the hinge of the box is also green ribbon.
The label for the contents of the box is still stuck firmly in place. This wonderful bedding set has never been used.
Made in Ireland, the cases are white with pastel pink, green & blue embroidered flowers, finished off with a scalloped pink thread edging . Truly stunning.
Because I have not unfolded them I cannot give exact measurements, but through research the dimensions for similar bedding sets are –
Pillowcase – 20 x 36 cm
Bolster Case – 20 x 70 cm ( but I cannot be 100% sure)
The set is in fabulous vintage condition with only a couple of small marks on the bolster case ( just to the right of the green ribbon as you look at the photos) the marks are minimal & no doubt would be easily removed through washing.
The box does have some damage to the corners & sides but it still protects the bedding nicely. The green ribbon hinge does still hold up the lid, but there is some strain. Considering the age, this vintage bedding set is in remarkable condition.
Fabulous addition to a collection of vintage bedding, wonderful to be used as intended in your stylish boudoir or an incredible gift.
