*SOLD* A most wonderful book written & illustrated by the renowned English writer Cicely Mary Barker.
This particular book explores the flower fairies found in Autumn, amongst gardens, trees, forests and woodlands. Each fairy has a flower or plant that they protect, love & nurture , with the poems of each fairy accompanied by beautiful & enchanting illustrations.
Each fairy has their own name and some of the poems have little additional notes at the bottom of the page that give a bit more information about the fruit or nut mentioned in the verse. A charming touch I think.
The illustrations are fun , bright & cheerful.
This book has been well used and well loved over the years. Although there is no printed date of publication, through research it is believed that this particular edition may come from the 1950’s. Amongst the beautiful poems and illustrations there are random blank pages. This could well be for the use of the reader. Maybe to write your own verse or draw your own illustrations?
The first page has 1/9 written in pencil. This is believed to be the price for the book – 1 shilling, 9 pennies.
Because of the age of the book there are many areas of usage. The cover to the exterior of the spine has been removed, some page corners are turned, there are a few marks , knicks,& knocks & scuffs to the cover, back & front. However, all the pages are still intact and attached to the spine. There is no graffiti to the pages. There are no rips. The cover is the rare chequerboard design.
