*SOLD* A stunning piece of vintage table ware that is sure to add elegance & sophistication to your dining or kitchen table.
Produced by Gorham & Co ( of Rhode Island, USA) , this silver plate ( soldered) butter dish is a fabulous addition to your home.
The dish is in 3 parts – the base plate, an inner plate with pierced holes and the domed lid. The base plate has a simple but attractive pattern etched around the rim.
The makers mark is stamped on the base & the inner plate, & through research this particular piece would date from around the turn of the 20th century.
Considering its very old age the butter dish is in very good antique condition. There are the expected areas of tarnishing to the silver plate but this would polish out a treat if desired.
The surface of the domed lid and the underside of the base plate have a few scratches & knocks. The pierced inner plate is slightly “off” and doesn’t quite lie totally flat on the base, but the piece really is a delight & perfectly fit for purpose.
