Vintage Virol Stoneware Jar

14/11/2020 By Emma Jervis

Here we have an incredible piece of Medicinal History.

In the 1940’s schools would have “The Virol ladies” arrive who would administer a brown sticky syrup which was full of nourishment for post war children. This treatment was known as Virol. The treatment was a by-product from the brewing industry & would have been full & rich in vitamins & nutrients.

The stoneware jar has the transfer ware print advertising its contents marked on the front and it is still remarkably clear & legible. The jar itself is in fabulous condition with just a few minor marks to the surface.

A delightful display piece, a quirky vase for those little stems or a fabulous gift idea.

The jar stands at 15 cm & weighs 469 g.
