In the mid 1860’s Dr Nelson invented the hot water inhalation device to help aid lung complaints, breathing difficulties & chest infections.
The device came in the form of an eathenware bottle with a cork stopper and a glass breathing tube. The directions of use were printed on the front of the bottle to help assist the user. The bottle was readily available in pharmacies & was a very useful home remedy aid for the patient.
This bottle has lasted the test of time but unfortunately it is missing the stopper & the breathing tube.
It has been well used over the years and therefore does show some signs of wear & tear. The surface has a fair amount of grazing and there are a few marks to the stoneware. There is a small chip on the edge of the bottle that woud have housed the stopper.
That being said it is still a lovely piece and although it has elements missing it would still look the part in your stylish home or business setting.
A real gem.
