The crumb catcher is made of silver plate with a wooden handle and has a pretty etched pattern to the lid. The lid has a small shell shaped thumb plate which allows you to flip open the lid with one hand and scoop the crumbs in to the box with other.
The idea of these delights would be to clear away crumbs and particles between courses whilst you are dining.
This delight is in good vintage condition but there are a few areas of tarnishing to the silver plate both on the surface & the interior. The lid closes nicely but there is the tiniest of gaps between the lid and the box. However, none of this detracts from its overall beauty & its ability to do a good job!
