Vintage Medicine & Poison Bottles

27/06/2020 By Emma Jervis

*SOLD* A fabulous collectable bundle of Vintage Medicine Bottles , Poison Bottles & First Aid Tins.

The 4 incredible bottles range in size, colour & intended original use & they would look beautiful on a bathroom window sill catching the light or in a bathroom display cabinet.

Bottle 1 – A stunning hexagonal shaped green bottle, with NOT TO BE TAKEN clearly embossed on the front. Either side of the wording are two ribbed sides. The ribbed features of these bottles was used as a warning to people to not ingest the contents as it would very well have been poison, or certainly something that would have caused harm. This bottle stands at 18 cms in height.

Bottle 2 – Clear glass bottle with NOT TO BE TAKEN neatly embossed on the front & two ribbed sides. Hexagonal in shape & stands at 13 cms in height.

Bottle 3 – A fabulous Owbridges of Hull Lung Tonic bottle. The contents of this stunning bottle was to treat coughs & colds. The front, & sides of this bottle have LUNG TONIC, HULL & OWBRIDGES clearly embossed on them. This fabulous bottle stands at 13 cms in height.

Bottle 4 – A clear glass drenching bottle with embossed wording clearly marked & a lovely stylish shape.

*NOTE* all the bottles are in very good Vintage condition, but given their ages there’s are a few marks & scratches. The LUNG TONIC bottle has a mark over the letters “N” & “I” but this is inside the bottle so the outside surface still remains smooth. No stoppers for these bottles but they all have moulded lips that are intact.

FIRST AID TINS – Two fabulous pieces of SMITH & NEPHEW Ltd Elastoplast tins, used for storing medical bandages & dressings. These tins have fitted lids that work but both tins have some scratches and knocks to them which you would expect given their age & no doubt because of the frequency of their use. The cylindrical bandage tin still has some remnants of the original sticking tape around the lid which I have left on & not tried to remove.

A fabulous collection.
