Produced by the renowned Johnson Brothers who founded their company in 1883., the tureen is stamped “ Johnson Bros, England” on its base.
The tureen has a subtle banded design around the edges, broken intermittently with a pretty floral display. The rims of the lid, the bowl itself , the lid handle and both side handles are gilt edged, adding charm and sophistication to this piece.
A robust ironstone piece of tableware , perfect for dishing up those delicious roast potatoes or tasty vegetables.
The tureen is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or scratches, but the underside of the base & the sides of the bowl do have age related crazing to the surface. There is some rubbing of the gold edging, but the piece, given its age and usage is in remarkable condition and in perfect working order.
The bowl measures 17 cm ( not including the handles) & has a depth of 9 cm.
