This “ adaptable “ stoneware bottle was produced by The Old Fulham Pottery which was established in 1671.
These fabulous bottles were often produced for Boots the Chemist to be used within the home , either as a hot water bottle or to be placed in the bed to get it warmed up before bedtime as a bed warmer.
This particular example has the registration number 443310 – through research this is estimated to have been produced in the 1950’s. ( there is some scope that this bottle may be older than the estimated 70+ years )
The bottle has a transfer print label on the front of it, detailing the maker’s name, reg number & instructions for use. This transfer is still fully legible after all these years.
A metal swing carry handle is there for use and it has two small wooden beads attached. The stopper and the seal are all original and the rubber seal is very much sill intact.
Over the years, & with its usage, this bottle does show some areas of wear and tear. There are some chips , scratches & nibbles to the surface and some discolouration around the stopper & the seal – however these simply add to the warmth and charm of the bottle and I would imagine it is still very much fir for purpose if so desired.
A characterful piece of vintage homeware – perfect for your home, a display piece, a prop in a business setting or a thoughtful gift for a very lucky someone.
