*SOLD* A gorgeous vintage candle snuffer & wick trimmer full of charm and style, ready to take pride of place in your stylish home.
The idea behind this lovely piece of vintage homeware would have been to trim the excess sooty parts of the candle’s wick with the box collecting the “snuffs” for neatness and practicality. If the candle is lit whilst you do this, it will extinguish the flame as well. The sharp pointy end would be used to gather up any parts of the sooty wick that may have fallen into the wax – all very clever and ingenious wouldn’t you say?
The snuffer opens and shuts easily with the box closing as required. Three little feet act as a stand for the snuffer and the pointy end is still suitably “pointy”.
This fabulous piece of homeware is believed to be silver plate but there are no visible markings. The snuffer has a lovely ornate stylish design to it and it is in good vintage condition. There are a few areas of wear & tear in the form of small scratches and marks on the silver plate , predominately on the underside. The “box” part has some tarnishing to it but this can easily be polished out if desired.
